- Two distinct processes, informal and formal resolutions. Informal resolutions entail the two parties initially meeting (either alone or with a representative of the College). If the first meeting does not result in a resolution, a second meeting is held with the department chairperson required to be in attendance. If either party is still dissatisfied with the resolution of the second meeting, a third meeting with the Dean and the two parties will be held. If the resolution at this meeting is still not agreeable to both parties, a formal procedure will occur. Formal resolution: A formal procedure begins with an investigation by the Dean of Student Services followed by a determination of whether a formal hearing is required. If a formal hearing is required, the accused will receive notification along with a statement of the alleged misconduct so that the student may prepare a defense. The accused must receive this notification 72 hours before the hearing, then must send a list of witnesses they plan to call within 48 hours of the hearing. The Dean of Student Services may only consider evidence if the accused has the opportunity to respond to the accusations brought forth from that piece of evidence. If the accused is found guilty, the accuser will NOT be disclosed the sanction/referral. Disciplinary action may include: 1) disciplinary warning 2) disciplinary probation 3) Suspension 4) Expulsion.
